Make an Omnidirectional LEGO Robot

Build Your Own Holonomic LEGO Robot

Make Magazine posted directions on how to build your own Omnidirectional Holonomic LEGO Robot and I thought some of your boys might be interested in this awesome project.

Omnidirectional LEGO Robot | BrainPowerBoy

This project is for older boys who have moved beyond simple LEGO builds and want to get into making things that move!  LEGO is a great learning tool as well as an awesome toy. Aren’t you impressed by what boys are making with LEGO?  I certainly am.  This project will help them take their building to the next level.

Holonomic robots usually have 3 wheels and are of a triangular design. The can move in any direction and look like they would be a blast to play around with.  This robot moves quite fast as well.  It has special wheels that allow it to turn on a dime.

You do need to have LEGO Mindstorms EV3 in order to complete the LEGO Robot.  Additional parts are listed in the directions over on Make. This is not a cheap project to put together but once you have the parts you can certainly use them for other neat builds as well.

Looks like fun doesn’t it?  If you think your boy would like to make an Omnidirectional Holonomic LEGO Robot (that’s a mouthful isn’t it?) follow the link to go over to Make Magazine for the directions.
