These videos show how to open a door. “Boring” you say? Not at all! They show how to Open a Door With a Rube Goldberg Machine™. That is something entirely different, something entirely cool, as you will soon see.
I doubt any of us will get quite as elaborate as the guy in the last video featured here did to open his door but these are certainly entertaining to watch. See all of our Rube Goldberg Ideas for Rube Goldberg Machine™ games, books, projects, materials and more
Rube Goldberg Task Open a Door
As some of you know I am very keen on Rube Goldberg machines™. His ideas set in motion (ha!) a movement of people who love to do very simple things like opening a door in a very involved and complex way.
Why would you want to do this? Well, it is fun. But if that is not a good enough reason, and it certainly should be!, it is very creative and you use a lot of logic, critical thinking, and planning in building one of these machines which provides a whole lot of fun learning opportunities.
Enjoy the videos!
Short Rube Goldberg Open the Door
Let’s start with one that was a student project. It is not super complicated but as you can see in the video, it took a few tries since there are dominos scattered about.
Marbles, cups, inclined planes, wheel and axels, pulleys and more. I like this one because you could actually have a whirl at building it at home.
Open A Garage Door
When two clever boys want to open a garage door to go for a bike ride they build a great chain reaction!
Be sure to watch the slow motion playback so you can see everything that is going on. Fantastic!
Open The Door Rube Goldberg Machine Made from Wood
This one is short and sweet and could actually be built at home.
Whole House Open a Door Contraption
This young man made an impressive machine to open a garage door.
His contraption actually goes from the basement, up the stairs, through the kitchen and out to the garage to open the door. Neat.
Toy and Homemade Contraption Rube Goldberg Machine Video
You are all going to love this one. Ariel Llama opens a door in a fun and unique way. He uses a lot of toys and homemade contraptions in his machine.
The crocs at the end are a nice touch!
After you watch it go back through and take a look at all that went into this machine. It is very impressive.
I was reading a bit about it and someone said it took him over a year to put it together!
Do you think you will try the task, open a door with a Rube Goldberg Machine? After watching these, I think we may have to try it!
